I think sometimes when petite women are looking for clothing, they overlook shops or retailers that they don’t believe will carry anything in their size. I’m guilty of this. I’ve really had to branch out by not always automatically going to certain sites and stores that I know carry petite sizes.

Case in point: Chadwick’s. I’m always happy to discover a store has a petite section, especially when the clothes offered are made in a variety of styles. I think that some manufacturers get this idea in their heads that all petite women are a size 2 or are demure, bow-wearing, Sabrina heel-clad dainty little things. Uh huh. Heard of Rhea Perlman?

While I’m usually not fond of horizontal stripes, I like how the bold stripes on this J.G. Hook dress give it a serious edge. So that little bow-tie at the waist works for me, whereas if the dress were plain or in a soft color like pink or cream, it might all be too sweet for me. The pointy-toed shoes they’re showing with it? Big thumbs up!
